Prestonwood Polo Club Spring 2015 Newsletter

NEWS RELEASE -- MARCH 27, 2015 --OAK POINT, TEXAS--Prestonwood Polo Club has released it's schedule for the 2015 outdoor polo season with an exciting line-up of events. Spring polo kicks off on Sunday April 5 with our 3rd annual Easter on the Lawn Spring Practice and worship service by Cross Way United Methodist Church and Easter Egg hunt.  On April 25 the Junior League of Collin County returns with  Lone Star Stomp, then on Saturday May 2, the 14th annual Polo on the Lawn Kentucky Derby Day, one of our biggest events, this year benefitting Cafe Momentum. Polo continues every Saturday in May and June, our popular Polo for the Planet event returns June 6 featuring the USPA National Youth Tournament Series. For the polo players please check our updated PLAYER'S SCHEDULE, we offer something for everyone: Margarita League, Competitors League (2-4 goal and up), Polo School, Private Lesson and Stick n Ball sessions. If you always wanted to try polo but never did, then now's the time to take a lesson.  The spring outdoor season climax is the finale of the Patriot Cup June 27 held in conjunction with our popular Polo Summer Camp and Clinic, however this year we have an exciting addition with an official USPA Clinic run my members of TEAM USPA.

In February and March our youth program soared as our Prestonwood boys varsity team shocked the polo community by winning the Central USA Regional High School Championship for the 3rd year a row and advanced to the National Final Championship game as the one the youngest programs ever.  38 teams from all over the USA competed for the trophy that dates back to 1928 and Prestonwood made the final 2. Team mates Vaughn Miller Jr, Vance Miller III and Ronnie Puente defeated teams from Culver, New York and Houston by a margin of 26 goals to reach the National finals VS West Shore (Maryland). They lost a tough game in the finals to an older team but they're looking forward next year.  Prestonwood Polo Coach Vaughn Miller coaches the TCU Polo Team which trains and practices at Prestonwood. TCU is proud to announce they are building a Men's Polo team for the first time ever.  The women's team, which has a long and storied tradition in collegiate completion, did well this year despite loosing two seniors and is looking forward to next season.

Also please join us in congratulating our 1st ever Miss Prestonwood Polo Club, Ameera Swaidan, and Miss Outstanding teen, Amber Smith, that will be competing in the upcoming Miss Texas pageant.
