NEWS RELEASE -- MARCH 10, 2011 -- OAK POINT, TEXAS-- Founder and president of the Ladies Polo Auxiliary of Texas, Dena Miller, has been appointed to the USPA’s Equine Welfare Committee.  Dena was recommended to the committee by Gwen Rizzo, Publisher of Polo Players Edition Magazine, wife of Peter Rizzo, executive director of the USPA and Equine Welfare Committee representative. According to Gwen,” we need people who aren't afraid to search for facts and can actually help situations.”  Dena was invited to the committee by Clint Nangle, founding chair of the committee and board member for 18 years.  The Committee’s mission is to foster the development of standards for polo pony care and treatment – many of which, while in common use, have never been standardized before.  "Dena's love of animals and polo make her a natural for the Equine Committee," according to Prestonwood Polo Club President, Vaughn Miller, "her creativity and ability to organize and follow-thru will be a great addition" said Vaughn. "I'm honored to be asked to to be on such an important committee," said Dena, "I'm looking forward to working hard for the protection of horses, one of our planet's most loved creatures!"

Dena will attend the annual USPA committee meetings in April in Palm Beach, Florida in conjunction with the finals of the US Open.  As founder of the Ladies Polo Auxiliary of Texas, Dena has worked tirelessly to raise money for charities through polo and bringing in hundreds of new fans to the sport of polo in North Texas.
